All proceeds received by Community Food Share will be used in the operations of our Food Bank. This is consistent with the classification "Relief of Poverty" and "Beneficial to the Community -- The Nature of Health and Welfare".
Our Food Bank is visited by members of the community who are living in poverty and require relief. Community Food Share is proud to offer a Healthy Choices program which was developed in cooperation with the local health unit. In a single visit, clients leave with enough food to give their family five days worth of nutritional meals, including more fresh selections, such as vegetables and milk.
Food bank clients have access to additional programs at no charge, including tax preparation assistance and a Community Advocate. The Community Advocate assists by providing information, support, referrals and resources to help solve problems such as finding housing, paying bills, securing funding, or dealing with utility companies.
The primary expense proceeds will cover are food and other essentials. This ranges from meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy products, bread and other canned good and cooking items, as well as essential toiletries. Proceeds may also be used to cover refrigeration expenses as Reliable refrigeration is essential in running a food bank to ensure food remains available and healthy for clients.
